“More Energy and less Stress at the workplace” is the slogan of the new SOULFOOD study at University Medicine Essen, which was featured in a WDR report on February 4, 2026. In collaboration with the umbrella organization for corporate health insurance funds, the Center for Complementary Medicine and Planetary Health developed practical approaches to health promotion within the hospital setting.

The study’s program combines topics of mind-body medicine with complementary self-help strategies and modules on nutrition and physical activity. A key focus lies on practical learning held in small groups. Innovative approaches enable each individual to discover new health strategies and integrate them into their daily work/lives. The aim is to strengthen the resilience and individual health literacy of colleagues in the healthcare sector. At the same time, this multi-week program aims to foster mutual understanding among different professional groups, thereby contributing to a sustainably health-promoting work culture within clinical environments.

The report can be viewed here, starting at the 16:15 mark.
